Bottles recycled so far in 2024...

The John Cotton Nonwovens Division divert the equivalent of 12 million bottles a week from reaching landfill and our oceans

Here at John Cotton we are passionate about the environment we live in and are actively committed to eliminating textile and plastic waste from entering landfill and the oceans. We have been recycling textile waste for over 60 years and are proud to be working with the carbon trust to achieve zero to landfill. We are also working towards achieving ISO 14001 Environmental Management (EMS) certification, to help us perfect and improve our day to day operations to be more sustainable.

100 Years

For over 100 years John Cotton have been reclaiming garments and textile waste and manufacturing these into new products. We currently recycle around ½ million garments a week, converting them to products such as insulator pads for use over the spring unit in a mattress.

Garments

We also recycle the equivalent of 30,000 pairs of jeans per week, manufacturing this into various products such as chilled packaging insulation.

Recycled

Just over 70% of the polyester fibre we purchase comes from recycled plastic sources. The John Cotton Nonwovens Division divert the equivalent of 12 million bottles a week from reaching landfill and our oceans.

Landfills

We are committed to recycling the offcuts produced during the manufacture of our home textile products, currently this equates to 16 tonnes a week, which is produced into insulator pads.
