The John Cotton Nonwovens Division is based in the heart of Yorkshire and is the UK’s leading supplier of thermal and mechanically bonded nonwoven products into various markets such as the mattress, insulated packaging, filtration, automotive, upholstery and home insulation industries.
An annual investment in over £2 million allows us to drive innovation through dedicated research and development, new machinery, staff training and drives continuous overall efficiencies, by following the IATF 16949:2016 Automotive Quality Management System Standard.
The business’ DNA is passionate about sustainability which has always been a natural part of our ethos. We are experts in textile fibre recovery from industrial or consumer bi-products and source a large proportion of our polyester fibre from recycled plastic waste, therefore eliminating plastic waste from entering into the oceans and landfill. We are striving to extend our vision into the circular economy by initially targeting ISO 14001.
With decades of knowledge and experience, we specialise in providing solutions to add value to our customers. Our nonwoven technologies include high-speed carding and lapping, vertically laid fabrics, airlaid nonwovens, garneting, needling technology, thermal bonding, pulling, blending, cutting, rolling and packaging.
With 11 production lines onsite and a weekly output of 600 tonnes and growing, we deliver smart and effective manufacturing solutions within a fast-paced environment.
The Nonwovens manufacturing capabilities include; 3 High Speed Polyester Carding Lines, 1 Vertically Laid Line, 3 High Speed Airlay Lines, Garneting and Mackie lines, Needling, Thermal Bonding Ovens, Cutting, Rolling and Packaging.
We are processing in excess of 600 tons of material per week, recycling over half a million garments. We deliver nationwide with our own fleet of liveried vehicles.
We are constantly identifying & developing new innovative materials, treatments, finishes & processes to meet the ever increasing competitive demands of our clients.
Over 60% of all the polyester we use comes from recycled sources. We are actively committed to eliminating textiles and plastics which can be recycled or reused from entering our landfills.
